PLANS have been submitted for the second phase of a £400 million development on Weston-super-Mare's former RAF Locking site.
Developer St Modwen and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) have submitted plans to North Somerset Council for 150 homes at the development, known as Locking Parklands.
The plans are part of a wider scheme to redevelop the 200 acre site which will see approximately 1,250 homes, around 650,000 sq ft of employment space and community facilities and create 2,000 jobs.
If approved the scheme will feature a mix of properties, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom detached homes. The majority of the properties will be sold on the private market, but 30 per cent will be allocated as affordable housing.
The latest application follows the success of the first phase of 100 properties at Locking Parklands.
Thirty-four homes were put up for sale in November with 31 already being reserved. A further 30 have been sold to Sovereign Housing Association. The final 36 private properties are expected to be completed by November.
St Modwen South West regional director Rupert Joseland said: "We are pleased that many of our first residents will be from the local area.
"We have constructed the first homes to a higher standard than required by building regulations, making each home up to 25 per cent more energy efficient than the standard newly built home, which is proving very popular.
"The proposals are for the next phase to be built to the same high standard and to have a similarly modern, clean architectural style with generous living accommodation."
The HCA has invested around £6 million in the first phase of development, taking the total level of investment in Locking Parklands to more than £12.2 million since 2002.
