Queen Victoria statue gets a knitted makeover

A statue of Queen Victoria in College Green has been decorated with a colourful knitted robe.

A collective of "knit artists" known as Knittifi say they were behind the yarn creation, which appeared over the last couple of days. They have previously adorned other statues including Carey Grant and John Cabot with wool. On their blog they say: "Our mission is to make our world a brighter, happier place. By breathing life into inanimate objects with a comforting, loving touch we hope to make people smile and look again at our work, smoothing the often-harsh edges surrounding us." They say they have many members from the Milestones Trust - a regular group runs in Bristol as part of the Expressions creative group.
